The new addition is named as “let’s put our cities on the map” and it will place all the local businesses in around 30,000 cities online.

The agenda was taken because according to a stat a bulk number of people want to business with such companies who have a compact listing. It is very evident that the new initiative will encourage the local businesses as well as the consumers.

The listing or online status of the local business help them find what important information or NAP they have missed to mention. Except that the co-relation between the customers and local businesses will be more reinforce by the effort.

Google has assured to provide a year free website and domain name for the local businesses along with an algorithm or guideline to be online with Google. The role of consumers in the newly launched program is quite appreciable. They may create postcards of their favorite local businesses and also may share on the social sites like Facebook, Google+, Twitter or Linked in. Moreover, this will not have an impact over ranking.

According to a Google spokesperson, “Sharing of postcards will not make businesses appear higher in search, but hopefully spur them to verify and start managing their business listing”

Google has also decided to collaborate with small business development authorities and chamber of commerce, so that the effort should effect more fruitfully.
