Since the latest algo update by Google, we’ve have been closely observing what factors about a site determine its ranks on Google. Taking clues from various discussions, we could finally reach to a conclusion. Our discovery may contradict with others, but we are sure that some attributes of web pages and sites have certainly direct and reciprocal relation to their rankings on Google.

Here are the outlines of our observations, linked to all rank correlation coefficients.

i. Page Authorship weighs higher than any other metrics.

ii. Google+ / G-Plus linkup plays largely major role in drawing out Social Signals, while Facebook shares remain as highly correlated.

iii. Anchor text correlations play major role still despite Penguin rollout. But, keyword domains and keyword links have lost relevance.

iv. Structured data flow / on-page technology and Schema.org are the latest correlations to boost SEO for online content. Quality content will rule now onward.

v. Number of backlinks are still important but exact match domains might come under fire.

Page Authority is a machine learning model which forecasts ranking ability from links. This is going to be the highest correlated factor as found in almost everybody’s opinion. So, validation your site’s credibility as to its specialized tools and methodologies is of top necessity to rank on Google.

While page authorship markup is necessary, no less necessary is linking up your site to your Google Plus / G+ page.

Keyword stuffed domain name and exact match domain have lost their relevance. It does also impact adversely over backlinks when it comes to plain text keyword links. Should we now presume whether the days of hardcore keyword optimization are going to end? Natural link profiles will get better results than hardcore keyword links. In fact, bad links will draw severe penalty. It is natural for you to worry about the fate of keywords. But, wait till Google puts forward anything concrete conclusion about it. From frequent tweaks and taunts by Google, predicting anything by anyone is quite difficult.

Structured data flow or on-page technology factors have long been crucial as the basics of a good search engine ranking. Algo updates by Google and their nature hint at their continuation all along. Meeting on-page criteria is of first requirement to achieve desirable ranking quickly and to surface on leading pages of SERPs.

Backlinks are still the apple of eyes for positive ranking. Insignificant changes with regard to backlinks came to notice during the recent times. However, factors to and fro this metric are dependent on evolution. Till to date, sites with more backlinks are seen to be ranking better.

Content will rule the roost. This has been the bread to SEO. What is changing after the rollout of Panda and Penguin is their way of presentation. If they have quality, substance, and food to feed readers’ queries and objectives, they will drive traffic to the pages where they should be. This is what Google does want from online marketers and advertisers. Meat of their all rollouts is to ensure finer and better user experience.
